Features and editions

Aerospike charges primarily by unique production data volume and for additional features on top of that - no charge for operations; no charges based on the number of servers or cores. For data, this means you can separate your deployment architecture and disaster recovery concerns from licensing. Additional features are typically a fixed percentage uplift based off of your unique production data volume. Features are individual and not bundled unless part of a service and stated explicitly.

Aside from the obvious need for support and maintenance (which other providers do also charge for/have created businesses around), the cost of the infrastructure and manpower required to operate the infrastructure (be it cloud or on-premises server footprints) that these open source systems require can easily surpass any benefits of license cost savings.

In short, our Aerospike Cloud is an annual based on non-replicated data (a.k.a. "unique" data) stored in your cluster. Because it is a service and runs on cloud infrastructure that Aerospike manages for you, any features are factored into the overall price, which will also be largely based on unique data volume and will be unique in that regard.
