Mountain View, CA, USA and Bangalore, India – July 24, 2014 – Aerospike, the leading open source NoSQL database announced its partnership with InMobi, the world’s largest independent mobile ad network, to run in-memory databases on both RAM and flash-based solid-state drives (SSDs). As a result, InMobi has realized significant gains in price/performance over running in-memory on RAM alone.

InMobi uses Aerospike as the context store for its ad-serving platform. The Aerospike database works alongside an Apache Hadoop system, which mines data that has been collected through the day. The analytical results from Hadoop are then stored in Aerospike along with tailored ads, which are displayed to users in real time.

“Our business requires low latency reads and writes,” said InMobi Co-founder and Vice President of Technology Mohit Saxena. “Aerospike offered us price/performance and cost-effective scaling by running on SSDs.”

Aerospike clusters distributed across four InMobi data centers run at a total of 480,000 transactions per second (TPS) across the four clusters. Collectively the clusters manage 2.8 billion records and nearly 4TB of data stored in a combination of in-memory and on-disk namespaces.

“As the second-largest global mobile advertising solution provider after Google AdMob, InMobi is at the forefront in using contextual data to deliver personalized ads to millions of consumers at any given moment,” said Aerospike Founder and Vice President of Engineering and Operations Srini V. Srinivasan. “We are thrilled by InMobi’s success in using our flash-optimized in-memory NoSQL Aerospike database to predictably meet the demands for real-time, personalized interactions even as the company scales to support its exponential growth.”
